Good questions.
What does self-custody actually mean?
It means you, not a company, control your money. Your digital dollars are held in an account contract on the blockchain that only your key can sign for. Holders provides the technology, the card and the connection to your banker, but we can't move your balance.
How can a private banker work on an account they can't touch?
Your banker can prepare transactions on your account: a conversion, a payment, a cheque. Each one arrives in your app as a proposal. When you approve it with your key, it executes. Your banker brings the judgement and the execution; you keep the final say.
Who are the bankers?
Platinum members work with senior private bankers and independent wealth managers from leading institutions, selected by Holders and based in Canada and the United Kingdom. [Partner institutions.] You can change banker at any time without moving your money.
How much can I spend by card?
Up to $25,000 a month with Holders. Holders Platinum has no spending limit. You can also set lower limits of your own, or freeze the card in the app at any time.
How do I get Holders Platinum?
By invitation only. Platinum adds a physical card, unlimited card spending and your own private banker. It can't be bought or applied for. Download Holders and use your account; invitations are extended to members from there.
How does a cheque work?
You write a cheque in the app for an exact amount and recipient. The amount is reserved in your account and the cheque is signed with your key. The recipient cashes it with a link or QR code, into their own account or their bank. Until then, you can cancel it and the reserve is released.
What happens if I lose my phone?
Your money isn't on your phone; it's at your on-chain address. Restore your account on a new device with your recovery phrase. Keep that phrase offline and private: anyone who has it can control your account, and we can't recover it for you.
